$25,000 Thrive Grant Recipient — Threads of Pride
Threads of Pride is a community art project and exhibition curated by local gay artist and designer Michael K Davenport, and selected by the City of Wichita’s Division of Arts & Cultural Services. Funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, this project celebrates LGBTQIA+ life and creativity across Kansas.
In partnership with Harvester Arts and local LGBTQIA+ groups, Threads of Pride brings together artists, students, and community members to create large quilt-inspired art panels (3ft x 5ft). These powerful, personal pieces will be displayed throughout Wichita during Pride Month in June 2025.
Get Involved:
- View work by LGBTQIA+ artists from across Kansas
- Join free art-making days with supplies, music, and food
- Enjoy family-friendly drag performances and community events
- Buy or bid on quilt panels; proceeds support local LGBTQIA+ organizations
- Help preserve the legacy as select panels are repurposed into lasting artworks
